Wednesday's Word: Persona

Today's word is Persona.  It is the face or appearance that you present to the world.  I don't believe we are merely one-dimensional, we have many facets to our personalities.  So it stands to reason that the images we create would sometimes be conflicting.  Here are some examples of well known authors with very different persona's.

Stephen King:

J. R. Ward:

Stephenie Meyer:

Sometimes what the world sees, or what we want them to see, and who we truly are may be at odds.

I am this person:

But I am also this person:

We should embrace who we are. Those different layers are what make us unique and without them we would be a stiff cardboard caricature, forged by what the world expects of us.  Be the intellectual deep thinker who agonizes over every word you write, but don't be afraid to also be that crazy person who dances in the rain, sings embarrassingly loud to the radio in your office, and tells everyone that yes...you do still believe in Santa.  If you don't believe, you don't receive.

Remember, be yourself not just a persona.

And that, my friends, is the Word.

  1. This was great! I loved your picture!!! You should have two avatars. Are you on twitter? There are so many people there I can't keep them straight. And if not, please hop to it! ;) That would be a great place to put up that second pic!

Fortunately only my kids have heard me sing, and they have to love my singing. I decide if they get dessert. ;)

  5. That's the way professional posed photos always are, aren't they? They rarely show the REAL us!

It helps to know I'm not just talking to myself.
