Mean Moody Mondays

I haven't done this in a little while. Monday's are the true bane of my existence. They are inescapable.
These are a few of the things that irritate me on this Monday.

1) Lady Gaga:
Recent controversy has arisen about whether she in fact...a lady. I say, who cares? She is by far the most irritating singer, with the most inane lyrics, that I have ever exposed my ears to.
Some of these songs include such gems as Paparazzi, and Poker Face. Those must be the titles because those are the lyrics. Almost literally, ALL of the lyrics.

2) Drivers who do not understand the concept of a 4-way stop:
Have we become so dependant on traffic lights to tell us in colors, like we are five years old, what to do that when they are not there we cannot remember this basic principle?

3) Drivers who do not understand the concept of a 4-way stop when turning lanes are included:
IT IS THE SAME AS A REGULAR 4-WAY STOP.

That is all. I feel so much better.

  2. Lady Gaga has her place.

In Barbados, our local music is called calypso. There are basically two types. Social commentary is a beautiful art form which involves telling a story about some aspect of scoiety, using puns and analogies and other literary devices. Topics of social commentary include things like politics, education, health, culture, etc.
The second type is party music. Some artists work really hard on party music. It's well composed, and the lyrics are a cohesive unit. Some artists have songs with less than 30 words in a repeat cycle: Jump up, whine up, move, etc. I think we just have to accept it for what it is. It's not of any musical value. It's not somethign to sit around a listen to on the radio. But it's great for jumping up and down to in a nightclub, where you won't really care what the words are.

And that is my opinion of Lady Gaga.

Having heard her live (not purposely) I will say one thing. The woman can really sing. It's not like she doesn't have the option of singing "real music". She just chooses not to.

  3. I have liked what I have heard of Lady GaGa's music-- I haven't paid any attention to the lyrics, but I suspected there wasn't much substance to them. I have enjoyed watching her perform which has not been many times. I don't like Lady GaGa from what I know about her, but I don't know much about her so I guess I can't really judge her much. I'm pretty sure I won't be running out to buy her CDs.
