Friday Flashbacks

The year is 1910.  One hundred years in the past.

There were no bestselling novels because writers had to chisel words on stone tablets.  Ok, that was a blatant lie.

The world lost an amazing talent that year, Mark Twain.

He doesn't look like someone you would want to mess with.  In fact, he looks like Donald Sutherland in 'A Time to Kill'.
Mark Twain was without a doubt, one of wisest men who ever lived.  Here are a few quotes that prove my point:

'Clothes make the man.  Naked people have little or no influence on society.'
'A man's character may be learned from the adjectives which he habitually uses in conversation.'

Those are some seriously deep thoughts.

The novel Phantom of the Opera by Gaston Leroux was first published this year.
This was also the first year Father's Day was celebrated.

Boosting tie sales everywhere.

William Taft was President.

I think we can see the fashion trend was big mustaches.
You could tell how macho a guy was by the size of his mustache.  If only that were true today.
