Your addictions are contagious. It’s true. Enthusiasm and passion is like a viral infection that spreads and affects those around you. The addictions I am talking about have no cure but still you carelessly spread them. Thankfully I have just a few.
Reruns of Buffy
Kisses (non-chocolate variety) Although at this point kisses from my son can only be obtained by chasing him, wrestling him to the ground, and taking them. He is bigger than me so it’s not easy but addictions cannot be denied.
Writers are the worst at this problem. You convince others not to give up their own addictions with your encouraging words. You pimp awesome books to tempt us, filled with zombies, vampires, and…kisses. You hold contests and conferences and offer advice at every turn.
Have you no shame?
Without these addictions I might lead a normal life…a life filled with knitting and reruns of Family Ties. I would eat carrot sticks and dream of butterflies, not ghosts or hot werewolf guys.
Maybe you have no idea how addictagious you are, handing out hope like candy.
Please don’t ever stop.
And that, my friends, is the Word.
