Wednesday’s Word: Suckpiphany

The sudden realization (as you are wondering where your new story is headed and feeling a vague dissatisfaction) that the last half of the outline you created for your new wip… sucks.

Solution: Emergency suckectomy to remove rampant growing suckage and replace with shiny new ideas (which include mystery, mayhem, and disturbing death scenes…in YA you say? oh hells yes).

Having a suckpiphany is only a bad thing if you aren't prepared to do something about it.

And that, my friends, is the Word.

  1. Oh I have a ton of suckpiphanies. A ton. In fact, I am having one right now!

  2. Um I happen to have one of these twelve to twelve thousand times per WIP. I've come to the conclusion that I just don't care how bad I suck. I'm doing this anyway.

  3. Suckpiphany is a truly excellent word. I've been having one for the last two weeks, but you're right, it's only truly bad if you're not committed to fixing the suckages.

But of course you have to identify the suckages first... and I'm still working on that...

It helps to know I'm not just talking to myself.
