Freak Me Out

There are the normal things most of us are afraid of…like heights, or snakes, or being alone with Uncle Frank.  But does anything freak you out that would be considered weird or unusual?

For instance, china dolls? Not that I am naming names or pointing fingers. (psssttt…it was totally Jennifer Hillier.lol)  They are actually pretty creepy.

My strange fear, which isn’t actually strange to me at all, is squirrels. Oh yeah. You heard me. I shudder as I write this and see their little faces in my mind.

They ARE rats. They are part of the rodent family. Look it up if you don’t believe. Sure, they live in trees and hop around; Nickelodeon puts them in a dress and Disney calls them adorable woodland creatures. But it doesn’t change what they are!

You can take a rat from a sewer, put him in swimming trunks and set him on the beach but he will still be a rat. A beach rat.

Just like a squirrel is a tree rat.

Also until you have seen a herd of them surrounding your house and had them dive bomb you with acorns…don’t judge. They plot against me.

And don’t even get me started on Raccoons…with their freaky little jazz hands.

So tell me. What freaks you out???

  1. I really don't like small animals. They are way too fragile and twitchy, and I certainly don't like them near my feet. Here's lookin' at you toads, frogs, and mice. Ick.

  2. This new breed of carnivorous squirrel up here in Canada. I hear they're starting to emigrate southward, though...

  3. Hermit crabs kind of freak me out. Not when they're in their shells. But I've always kind of been freaked out by what they look like out of it. *shivers*

  4. You crack me up! Jazz hands, priceless!

Squirrels don't bother me as much as "regular" rats do (see how I defer to your argument that squirrels are a form of rat). A few years ago an enormous rat was staggering around the neighborhood, looking really sick. It then dropped dead in someone's lawn and then proceeded to ROT for the next few days until Animal Control finally came and took it away. I had dreams about that rat for a long time.

  5. The cavity in your squirrel's front teeth kinda did it for me.

  6. Clowns. They look almost human, but not quite. Oh yeah, clowns. (shudder)

It helps to know I'm not just talking to myself.
