Creep Me Out…Please?

Today Jennifer Hillier’s debut novel Creep drops on an unsuspecting public like a bomb of pure suspenseful awesomeness. From the very beginning it grabs you by the throat and doesn’t let go until the last page is turned. There’s a blurb on the back cover by Jeffery Deaver that suggests you call in sick…because you aren’t going anywhere until you’re finished. I couldn’t agree more.

The short skinny: Psychology professor has a hot cougar affair with her fine ass teaching assistant/student, but decides to end it when she makes the decision to get engaged to her kind, caring boyfriend. Only fine ass student doesn’t take it so well. Being a few nuts shy of a sundae, he decides if he can’t have her…then no one can.

The core elements of a great story are the same regardless of genre which are perfect pace, descriptions that leap off the page, and relatable characters. Creep has all three. So no matter what you write or even if don’t write at all, this book is a must read.

I consider myself lucky to have Jennifer as a friend and not just because now I know she daydreams about murder. She’s funny, smart, and incredibly humble about her success. But none of that makes a difference when it comes to book recommendations. I don’t make them very often. If I read something I don’t particularly like then I take my mother’s advice and keep my mouth shut. But when I read something this good I have to pass it on.

You should definitely run, don’t Creep, to the nearest bookstore and buy a copy NOW.

  1. Wow. I'm going to have to check that one out. I rarely read books that aren't for kids because of my writing, but I'm going to get on the library waiting list for that one!

  2. How much do I love your description of my book? "Professor has hot cougar affair with fine ass teaching assistant." Hello, new elevator pitch!

Thanks for being an amazing friend, Marsha. You once told me that a friend helps you move, but a good friend helps you move a body. Just know that if you ever need a body moved, I'm your girl! NO QUESTIONS ASKED. (Okay, except maybe for, "Where do you want it?")

  3. How cool are you, Marsha? Looked for this on Amazon UK but not released properly yet by all accounts. Keeping an eye on it.

  4. Oh great review! Sounds super exciting. :) And I'm jealous (in the good way) of Jennifer, not ONLY because of her well-deserved awesome success, but because of your blurb. "Psychology professor has a hot cougar affair with her fine ass teaching assistant/student" - loved! Hopefully one day I'll be famous enough to have a description like that. Seriously. Trademark it. :D

  5. What a GREAT review! This book is an automatic for me.
Poet seems to like it, too. Of course, when two girls start talking about moving bodies together and "cougar affairs," he's signed up. Pronto.

  6. Damnit!!!

I went to Borders to buy this today and they couldn't find it. The computer said they had a copy, but noooooo. Now I have to drive an extra ten miles to the next bookstore. BUT I will because I really want to read it, and because Indy stores are better anyway. Go Jennifer.

  7. I had to skip over your post in case you accidentally left a spoiler for me. But yes, I'm looking forward to Creep. I plan on starting it tonight.

It helps to know I'm not just talking to myself.
