The Big Picture

We can become so consumed by details we fail to see the beauty in the big picture. A small issue can suddenly become a boulder that blocks our path and keeps us from achieving our goals.

Don't let it.

Whether it’s our story or something happening in our life, sometimes just taking a step back to check the view makes all the difference.

Oh, yeah

  1. Wow, where is that? That is some gorgeous waterfall.

Also, I'm very guilty of doing just that. I can get bogged down in small details that mean nothing. That's when I have to ask myself if it is something that will even matter five years from now. If not, I try to let it go.

Storywise I do this too. There are days I can't get past a certain paragraph because I feel like I haven't got the wording just perfect. It's a terrible habit, because chances are I'll either rewrite it or delete it completely when I come through on revision anyway, but I get very anal about that stuff. Not good. I think I needed this reminder today. :)

  2. Just don't step back without looking, or you may wind up falling off a cliff. Then some retard, like me, will capture it on video and post it on YouTube under "Epic Fail," or something like that. Then some dopey blogger, like me, will spread it and say things like "Hey, if you listen real close, you can hear Marsha screaming - LMAO. Who knew her voice was so high-pitched?"

Yeah, you're right. We should stop and think and see the bigger picture. :)

It helps to know I'm not just talking to myself.
