Someone I'd Like to Know

When I was a kid I loved westerns.  I daydreamed of riding into a sleepy town secretly being held hostage by evil cattle barons and shooting my way to glory.  I was never Wyatt Earp though.  Doc Holiday was my hero.  Wise-cracking, sarcastic, loyal...and deadly.

I was a strange child.  And obviously a tomboy.  But these were the dreams of kids growing up in rural America, a stone's throw from Frank and Jesse James' old stomping grounds.

Without going into the politics of gun control or my own personal feelings about the unfairness of armed hunters vs. unarmed animals, these pictures call to that part of me besides being incredibly stunning works of art.

Chicks with Guns,” a new book by photographer Lindsay McCrum.

This is 'someone you know' day of the Blog Me Maybe Blogfest and while I don't technically know Ms. McCrum, I think I'd like to.

  2. Uh oh. You don't like hunting scenes? Ack. Uh, just skip that part...

And I'm trying to figure out the story behind a bride carrying a firearm. Hell of a honeymoon I'm sure.

It helps to know I'm not just talking to myself.
