My Next Big Thing

I have been tagged by the queen of awesome herself (and my good friend) L.G. Smith.

The Next Big Thing is a series of questions about your current WIP or finished manuscript.  I am happy to comply.

What is the working title of your novel?
Shadows of Black and Stone (and that has changed a few times)

Where did the idea for the novel come from?
My head.

How long did it take you to write the first draft of your manuscript?
About 4 months (part-time, late at night and weekends).

Who or what inspired you to write this novel?
The desire to read a good southern ghost story and my frustration with how nice Jennifer Love Hewitt is in the Ghost Whisperer.  Just once I'd have liked to see her freak out and beat someone's ass.

What genre does your book fall under?
Paranormal Mystery

What is the one-sentence synopsis of your book?
Playing front man for her mother’s ghost-whisperer carnie act doesn’t prepare Bailey for when she’s confronted by real spirits of the dead, an ancient family curse, and a hot new boyfriend who claims to no longer be technically breathing.

What else about your book might pique reader's interest?
I've taken a small incident in history, the raid of the federal armory at Harper's Ferry, West Virginia, and made it a focal point in the story.

What actors would you choose to play your characters in a movie version?
 Bailey Blackstone: Jeanette McCurdy

Miller Adams: Steven R. McQueen

Obediah: Brian White

Will your novel be self-published or released through a traditional publisher?
I'm a traditional sort of girl.

And there you have it!  Now to tag others...

  2. Thank you for getting my title correct. LOL.

Great picks for the characters. I know I've seen Jeanette McCurdy before, but can't remember where. I'll have to Google her -- but, yes, great choice for Bailey. Too bad there isn't sound though, so everyone could hear how much she cusses. Ha!

    2. LOL. First of all that was for the first draft! Every story is different. I can point you to a writer I know that wrote her book in like a month. Let's hate her together.ha

Jeanette is from ICarly, it's on Nickelodeon. It's actually pretty funny and she is PERFECT for Bailey. I bet she cusses too.lol

  4. Intriguing! How does the history play in? Through the family curse? Yes, I'm nosy.

  6. Love your answers, and this sounds like a great book. I watched an episode of Ghost Whisperer once. It was so sugary sweet I almost slipped into a diabetic coma.

LG tagged me for this as well: I wish I 'd thought of the same answer for where the idea came from.
