Today’s word is Faith. The definition according to Merriam-Webster is ‘a firm belief in something for which there is no proof’.
I like that. Faith is a funny thing when you think about it. It can spur miraculous events or cause horrendous catastrophes. It is as unique as a snowflake.
Maybe your faith is in a benevolent being that watches over us and answers our prayers. Or maybe you believe that Aliens seeded our planet billions of years ago and will someday return.
The ancient Mayans believed that if they stayed up for days and then stabbed their…nether regions, they would be able to speak to their dead ancestors. My husband believes that if he stayed up for days and stabbed his nether regions, he could speak to them as well.
Faith is not just about religion. You can have faith in anything from the fact that your 10 year old border collie understands every word you say to some day reaching a long awaited goal.
We write on our computers for hours, days, months, and even years, sometimes with very little encouragement. We do this because we have faith that some day we will be rewarded…and because we love it.
Faith shapes us, drives us, and at times, consumes us. Where would we be without it?
Keep the Faith.
And that, my friends, is the Word.
Very nicely written and said! Faith is important, but so hard to keep sometimes. : )
ReplyDeleteLoved your husband's comment.:) This was a good one. Yes, we must keep the faith.
ReplyDeleteLovely word indeed! I'm glad it's one thing I have in abundance.
ReplyDeleteGreat post :-) Loved it...the bit about your husband was hysterical.
ReplyDeleteAlthough...I would think stabbing oneself in the nether regions would hurt.

Totally! It's such a long process before the actual point of sale. Writing is definitely an act of faith.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely. Faith is believing...even when there isn't any proof. You can have faith in love, God, people, things...your dreams...

ReplyDeleteFaith is amazing as long as you manage to keep it!!
