Friday Flashbacks: The Rat Rules

If you were a Caveman, you might expect to live to the ripe old age of at least 20…if you could run fast.

In classical Rome, the average life expectancy was 28 years old.
If you were the indigenous people of the Americas, you might make it to 30.

Times have changed and the world average life expectancy is 67 years old. Of course, that depends on where you live and the conditions of the area. Great strides have been made in medicine today and we live healthier, longer lives because of it. Scientists continue to research ways to increase the length of our lives. The study of other species is of great interest, particularly the Naked Mole Rat.

This creature can live for centuries with hardly any signs of aging before suddenly dropping dead of unknown causes.  He actually looks like my Uncle Guy.

But we can’t all be naked mole rats and until that mystery is uncovered, we have to take what we can get.  So seize the day, peeps.  Live the dream.

And remember the immortal words of his awesome Queeness, Freddie Mercury…who wants to live forever?

Update: Of course the above post does not pertain to the glitteriness of Edward Cullen or the hotness that is Jacob Black.  They are immortal and exceptions to the rule.  Duh...like that even had to be said.
