Tuesday’s Take: Balance
Oh, we want it. We work hard at it, even dream about it. For every hour I spend scrubbing sticky handprints off the walls…I should receive an hour of writing time. For every load of laundry I wash, every toy I retrieve, every minute spent trying to solve Algebra homework, and for the enormous amount of time spent at my day job, I should receive at least a few hours for my needs. But it doesn’t work like that, does it?
We are starting with a handicap. Nothing about humans is in balance.
One foot is usually slightly bigger than the other, one butt-cheek larger than its partner, and even our face is not exactly the same on each side. Except for Denzel Washington…who may or may not be an alien…because that’s not normal.
Maybe we aren’t meant to have exact balance in life. What if there is some cosmic scale that determines our fate? And it likes to keep us hopping on one foot. But we all have a unique ability to adapt and adjust despite being caught off guard, writers most of all. And we don’t give up easily.
We keep struggling to find our balance despite insurmountable odds and we should. Because we know deep down if we can achieve it…it will be a beautiful thing.

It's so true - balance is ever elusive, but that's what makes life so interesting! :) Great post!
ReplyDeleteNow, if that last picture isn't balancing, I don't know what is!
